Industry vet Monaè Everett was honored with the Celebrity Hairstylist Of The Year award at the 2019 New York City Hair and Beauty Awards. Everett was among a select group of top New York-based hairstylists, salons and beauty bosses recognized at the inaugural awards ceremony on October 27.
Over the past two decades, Monaè has gained international renown as a texture expert and “hair fixer,” elevating red carpet looks for a who’s who list of celebrities — including the likes of Sonequa Martin-Green, Mariah Carey, Yara Shahidi, Daniella Perkins, Laura Osnes, Tia Mowry, Priah Ferguson, H.E.R., and Indya Moore — and working behind-the-scenes for editorial shoots, landing cover after cover.
“I feel blessed to be able to live a life where my creativity can be used to make my clients feel beautiful — inside and out,” said Everett. “It’s a high-stress environment that is seldom acknowledged and it feels wonderful to be recognized by my peers and the public.”
Everett is also an American Board Certified Haircolorist and has worked under top global haircare brands, such as Wella, Sebastian, and Mizani, and has gained international renown as an industry expert for all hair textures. In addition, she is a regular contributing expert to Hype Hair, Sophisticate’s Hairstyles Guide, Naturally Curly, and Beauty Industry Report. Having already worked as a consultant for several companies, she looks forward to securing a role as creative director for an established hair or beauty brand.
